- the premium product line to choose when flexibility, durability, aesthetic and environmental issues are determining factors
by Brian Refsgaard, President
Although the advantages of our fabric ducting over metal ducting for air dispersion are numerous, there still exists a reluctance on the part of many potential customers to use fabric. One reason is that many believe that fabric particles from the duct itself as well as other airborne particles will be spread throughout the conditioned space by the porous ducting, thereby degrading IAQ. Some fear that the fabric may be a fire hazard. And others are concerned that, even though fabric does not provide a breading ground for microorganisms, bacteria and mold will be spread throughout the space being conditioned via our porous fabrics.
There is also concern over the durability of fabric.
To allay these concerns, FabricAir engineers have developed our new line of Combi 100 percent polyester woven ducting. This new product line comes in four variations and addresses all of the concerns mentioned above.
By using extra thick woven polyester fabric, our engineers have created an extremely strong, lightweight fabric ducting that has an exceptionally long life. It is so durable that we give it a 10 year non-pro rated guarantee - the best in the industry.
The new Combi - a 100 percent polyester woven fabric does not shed any particles into the air stream and does not contain any substances that are harmful to people or the environment. OKEO-TEX, a independent testing laboratory has tested all four Combi lines and certified them as safe for humans and the environment.
Of our four Combi products, three come pretreated with a fire retardant that meets the flammability requirements of UL NFPA 90A-1993, thereby making them virtually impervious to fire. In fact, FabricAir is the only supplier of fabric ducting in the United States who manufactures in a UL registered factory.
