Tips

What happens when
the duct gets dirty?

The duct system is dismantled and washed in a washing machine. Please refer to our standard maintenance instructions.

The washing frequency is reduced by using properly engineered pre-filters upstream of the duct.

If in doubt, please consult one of our engineers for advice.

Will the colours fade?

No. The colours will not fade during ordinary use in normal applications.

A fabric dispersion system should not be exposed to direct sunlight or unusual chemical vapours.

If in doubt, please consult one of our engineers for advice.

Can the duct catch fire?

No. The fabrics used in the various fabric dispersion systems are classified as flame retardant or normally combustible.

Further details on fire classifications are found in our technical documentation.

Does a fabric duct generate noise?

Fabric is neutral in terms of noise. This means that the fabric itself does not generate or convey noise.

Always place a proper silencer between the fan and the duct to reduce the risk of mechanical noise generated by the system or the sound of rushing air.

What about draughts?

Well engineered fabric ducts do not create draughts in offices, lounges or workspaces.

Every dimensioning should always be verified before production by a FabricAir® engineer.

What do the duct fabrics weigh?

At FabricAir®, we do not use unnecessarily heavy fabrics. All our standard fabrics weigh less than 300 g/m².

Choose lightweight fabrics wherever possible. Maintenance costs are based on weight: as a result, heavy ducts mean higher service costs.

How easy is it to install this type of duct?

Installation is quick and easy. The system can also be installed by unskilled labour.

This saves up to 75% on labour, compared to sheet metal ducts.

How long will it last?

Under ordinary operation and maintenance, FabricAir® Dispersion Systems can last 15 years or more. Some of our systems are still in operation after 30 years.

Proper maintenance and care extends the service life of the fabric system. FabricAir® recommends that you enter into a service agreement wherever possible.

What about quality?

FabricAir® is an UL-registered firm and is certified pursuant to ISO 9001:2000. FabricAir® uses Underwriters Laboratories (UL) to audit our quality system.

If in doubt, please request our current Certificate of Compliance.
