The Fausto Vicent Pavilion, located in Alcantarilla, is a venue that has hosted numerous local and national events, as well as serving as a hub for recreational activities and community events. Despite its extensive use and importance to the community, the facility lacked an air conditioning system, compromising the comfort of players, attendees, and staff.

In early 2024, coinciding with preparations for the Spanish Women’s Basketball Supercup, the Fausto Vicent Pavilion undertook a series of renovations, including the installation of a climate control system that would meet high standards of comfort and energy efficiency. Given the pavilion’s structure and design, management opted for a FabricAir duct system that combines functionality, aesthetics, and a flexible design tailored to the needs of a high-traffic sports environment.
Solution
To ensure uniform air distribution throughout the space, the custom engineered fabric duct system uses FabricAir’s Combi 30 fabric. This material is highly durable, washable, and resistant to condensation. The combination of OriFlow and SonicFlow air diffusion models provides a uniform airflow free of uncomfortable drafts, covering both the seating areas and the court. This design ensures a comfortable environment for everyone in attendance, regardless of their location within the space.
The ducts were suspended using the Type 08 All-In-One system, which enables quick and easy installation while maintaining the shape of the ducts even when air is not circulating. Additionally, the system was designed in tan color, seamlessly integrating with the interior aesthetics of the pavilion and maintaining a clean, professional appearance.
Results
The new duct system was successfully installed before the final match of the Spanish Women’s Basketball Supercup. During the game between Valencia Basket and Casademont Zaragoza, attendees and players noted a significant improvement in thermal comfort. The consistent temperature throughout the space contributed to a pleasant experience, free from discomfort, allowing both the audience and teams to focus on the competition.
The installation of fabric air conditioning systems can transform the experience in sports venues, ensuring adequate comfort for large events while providing an optimal environment for athlete performance and spectator satisfaction.
