Kocasinan Swimming Pool in Turkey
When Kocasinan Municipality began modernizing its community spaces in Kayseri, the goal was clear: to create environments that encourage learning, activity, and wellbeing. At the center of this vision stands Kocasinan Academy, a vibrant facility offering cultural programs, educational courses, and recreational opportunities, including a swimming pool and a fitness hall.
Behind the Academy’s striking design was a major challenge. The municipality needed a ventilation solution that could handle two very different environments while maintaining comfort, efficiency, and visual harmony.

Challenge
Swimming pool environments present significant challenges for ventilation systems. High humidity, elevated water temperature, and chemical vapors (such as chloramines) can compromise both indoor air quality and the integrity of building materials. Without proper airflow management, condensation on walls, windows, and ceilings can cause deterioration and create an uncomfortable and unhealthy space.
Traditional metal duct systems often struggle in such conditions:
- They provide fixed airflow, unable to adapt to changing occupancy levels throughout the day.
- Direct high-velocity air over the water surface increases evaporation and discomfort.
- Over time, corrosion caused by humidity and chemicals leads to costly maintenance and shorter system life.
In fitness areas, uneven air distribution and direct drafts disturb occupants, while the bulky appearance of metal ducts limits design flexibility.
To overcome these issues, FabricAir fabric ducts were chosen for their adaptability, aesthetics, and performance consistency.
Solution
FabricAir designed a custom fabric air distribution system that meets the unique needs of both spaces.
In the pool area, Combi 20 fabric was chosen for its permeability and anti-condensation qualities. This material allows the duct to breathe, preventing moisture accumulation and eliminating dripping. Air is delivered through NozzFlow™, which effectively remove chloramines from the water surface without disturbing swimmers. The airflow is directed toward windows and walls to prevent condensation, ensuring clear, dry surfaces even during cold seasons.
In the fitness hall, Combi 30 fabric was selected for its lightweight construction and visual appeal. The SonicFlow™ and MicroFlow™ dispersion models create a smooth and balanced airflow that avoids direct drafts on athletes. Using the Type 1 suspension system with All-in-One construction, the ducts retain their shape even when the system is off, preserving a clean and cohesive look.
Results
Efficiency and Design in Harmony
The system distributes a total airflow of 16,000 m³/h, ensuring consistent comfort throughout both areas. The benefits extend beyond performance. Textile ducts operate effectively at low static pressure, which reduces energy consumption and lowers operational costs. The fabrics are corrosion resistant, eliminating long-term maintenance concerns common in humid environments.
The Kocasinan Academy project showcases how smart engineering and fabric technology can elevate public facilities. FabricAir’s textile air dispersion system provides superior air comfort, energy efficiency, and durability while enhancing the architectural aesthetics of the space.
What began as a ventilation challenge became a case study in innovation and sustainability. FabricAir helped Kocasinan Academy prove that indoor climate solutions can be both functional and elegant.
