Fabric Air Dispersion System Enhances Comfort and Style in Hair Salon
Modern hair salons face growing expectations not just for service quality, but also for the comfort and well-being of both customers and employees. For Makbizay Mens Hairdresser, located in Turkey, these expectations drove the search for a ventilation system that could match the salon’s upscale interior while delivering clean, even airflow without discomfort or visual disruption.
Balancing Performance and Design in a Compact Space
Hair salons present a unique HVAC challenge. Occupants remain in fixed locations for extended periods, meaning that drafts or temperature swings can quickly create discomfort.
In addition, salons often feature high-end interior designs where traditional metal ductwork may clash with aesthetic goals. In this project, the client sought to avoid:
- Directional airflow that disrupts staff and customers
- Uneven heating and cooling
- A bulky or industrial appearance from exposed metal ducts
A Custom Fabric Air Dispersion System
To meet the performance and design requirements of the space, FabricAir engineers developed a custom air dispersion solution using Combi 30 fabric and the MicroFlow air dispersion model. The duct system was suspended with the Type 8 All-in-One system, which ensures ducts maintain their shape even when the system is idle. With a total airflow capacity of 2,237 m³/h, the solution ensures smooth, low-velocity airflow across the salon without drafts or uneven temperature zones.
The salon’s owner, Kadir Yıldırım, highlighted the difference the new system has made:
“As Makbizay Mens, with our renewed brand, we have introduced many innovations here. One of these innovations is the air conditioning system. Our team works in a fixed area throughout the day. We provide both cooling and heating without being affected by the air flow, with the FabricAir textile-based air distribution system. This system has positively impacted our comfort, enhancing our work quality and performance. We thank FabricAir for their services.”
Comfort, Style, and Long-Term Efficiency
By eliminating harsh air currents and promoting even temperatures, the new system enhanced overall comfort and air quality for employees and clients alike. The lightweight design made for easy installation, while the fabric’s washability and durability contribute to lower long-term maintenance needs.
The project also delivered energy savings by enabling the HVAC system to operate more efficiently, avoiding overuse of heating or cooling to compensate for hot or cold spots. This salon installation demonstrates how fabric air dispersion can offer a sustainable, visually appealing, and high-performance alternative to traditional metal ducting in small-format commercial applications.
