Salamer, a leading meat processing and sausage manufacturing company in Moldova, has recently completed the installation of a new fabric duct system at their facility. This new HVAC installation, specifically designed for the company’s refrigerated storage warehouses and cutting areas, is a more efficient, hygienic, and employee-friendly air distribution solution compared to traditional duct systems.

Established in 1999 as a small family business, Salamer has grown into one of Moldova’s largest and most innovative meat processing companies, employing more than 560 people. The company is committed to strict adherence to ISO 22000 and 9001 systems for food safety and quality management, ensuring that every step of their process meets the highest hygienic standards.

The decision to utilize FabricAir fabric ducting in this new project was driven by several key advantages for food processing environments:

  • Uniform Temperature Distribution: The fabric duct system ensures a consistent temperature throughout the facility, crucial for maintaining product quality and safety.
  • Low Air Circulation Velocity: By minimizing air movement, the system reduces product dehydration, preserving the quality of stored meats.
  • Improved Employee Comfort: The favorable microclimate created by the fabric ducts enhances working conditions for staff, contributing to better productivity and job satisfaction.

The new HVAC system employs two air flow models: NozzFlow and MicroFlow. NozzFlow is utilized where precise directional airflow is required, due to its high discharge velocities and directional throw. MicroFlow ensures low-velocity airflow through laser-cut microperforations, which prevents condensation on the duct surfaces.

The system uses FabricAir’s Type 3 T-rail suspension with FabricAir’s RapidSlider for quick and easy duct removal and replacement. The Internal 360° Hoops keep the ducts open and aesthetically pleasing, whether the airflow is active or not. Both the hoops and ducts are easily removable for laundering, aligning with Salamer’s stringent hygiene standards.

The green Combi 80 fabric is a permeable, flame-retardant, and antimicrobial material certified by Oeko-Tex 100. This machine-washable fabric is backed by a 10-year warranty, making it an ideal choice for environments with strict hygiene requirements.

With a total airflow capacity of 34,617 m³/h, the new fabric duct system at Salamer not only enhances the company’s operational efficiency but also reinforces their commitment to quality and innovation in the food processing industry.

For HVAC contractors and engineers specializing in industrial applications, Salamer’s adoption of fabric ducting presents a compelling case for the benefits of this advanced air distribution technology in maintaining high hygiene standards and improving operational efficiency in food processing facilities.
