FabricAir system meets complex temperature requirements for pharmaceutical plant

More than 1,200 meters of FabricAir fabric ducts have been installed in a new pharmaceutical production facility in Shijiazhuang, China. The project involved production and packing spaces as well as two large high-rise warehouses where boxes and pallets are moved in and out automatically by robotic rack systems.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project is the specific temperature requirements that needed to be addressed in the engineering and design of the duct system for the different spaces. The high-rise warehouse required an operation temperature range of -20 to -25°C, and the FabricAir fabric duct system was able to maintain a consistent temperature (±3°C) throughout the entire space.

The warehouse combined an air cooler and fabric duct with JetFlow and OriFlow dispersion models to generate high velocity directional air using conical jets and laser-cut holes.

The two-floor production and packing area of the facility required different duct profile shapes to accompany the 4 air handling units. A cloud shaped duct and a custom designed rectangular duct with an inner frame were used to meet the conditioned air temperature range of 2-8°C.

FabricAir fabric ducting has several benefits in any application, including environments where precise conditions are required, like laboratories. Fabric ducts are flexible, lightweight, and easy to install, making them a popular choice for many commercial and industrial applications. They also have a high level of durability, are launderable, and resistant to corrosion and wear, making them a cost-effective and long-lasting solution.

“We are proud to have been part of such a complex application. Our team was able to design a solution that met the specific temperature requirements of the high-rise space, while also providing an efficient and effective air distribution system,” said Hugh Baixian, Sales Manager for FabricAir’s subsidiary in China.

The FabricAir fabric duct system installed in the new facility is an excellent example of how the custom designed and engineered fabric ducts can address specific temperature requirements in any application, including highly sensitive environments like laboratories and multi-level spaces. The flexibility, durability, and efficiency of fabric ducting make it a popular choice for many commercial and industrial applications.
