In 2024, FabricAir delivered a complete air distribution solution for the sports hall at the Vocational School Complex in Olesno, Poland. The project, developed in collaboration with general contractor NormHaus, included both supply and exhaust ventilation systems to ensure comfortable conditions for students and athletes throughout the year.

Optimized Indoor Air Quality for Sports and Learning

Fabric air distribution system installed in the Olesno Sport Hall in Poland

The 1,000 m² facility required a high-capacity ventilation system that could deliver 15,000 m³/h of fresh air with low air velocity in the occupied zone. Maintaining comfort during high-activity periods, particularly in winter, was critical. To avoid drafts and uneven temperatures, the system needed to provide uniform airflow while minimizing energy consumption.

The custom engineered solution ensured uniform air distribution across the entire space, reducing the risk of hot and cold spots common in traditional metal duct systems. This uniformity enhances comfort and performance for students and staff alike.

A Modern, Custom-Engineered Fabric Duct System

To meet the project’s airflow requirements, the fabric duct system utilized the OriFlow air dispersion model. Installed at a height of 8 meters, the ducts were designed to deliver low-velocity, directional airflow at just 0.25 m/s in the occupied zone. This approach ensures consistent thermal comfort, even during cold weather.

The ducts were manufactured with Combi 30, a durable, non-permeable fabric well-suited for spaces like gymnasiums. Unlike metal ducts, fabric does not corrode, rust, or require additional insulation, making it an efficient and low-maintenance alternative.

The system was suspended using the Type 8 All-In-One system mounted on anodized aluminum H-rails. The shape-retention system keeps the ducts fully inflated at all times, maintaining a clean and consistent visual appearance, even when the air handler is off. Compared to rigid metal systems, which often require complex hangers and longer installation times, this suspension system minimizing installation time.

Integrated Exhaust Ventilation for Balanced Performance

In addition to the supply system, FabricAir designed and delivered an exhaust solution with equal capacity—15,000 m³/h—to ensure proper air exchange and ventilation throughout the hall. This balanced approach supports healthy indoor air quality while controlling humidity and temperature, regardless of occupancy or season.

Positive Outcomes for Students and Staff

Following installation, the school reported high levels of satisfaction with the indoor air quality and climate control. Students and teachers alike benefit from improved comfort, and better thermal regulation. The solution not only delivers performance but also supports a more energy-efficient and sustainable building environment.
