Perfect air distribution for stale air environments

Huge facilities with hundreds of servers generate a lot of heat and carbon dioxide, therefore perfect air distribution must be top-notch. Fabric-based air distribution solutions can help your systems work smoothly and efficiently.

Telecom Facility, Canada

“Generally, temperatures have fallen slightly in what used to be hottest parts of the aisle and risen slightly in what used to be coldest parts of the aisle, consistent with the nearly perfectly even air distribution the FabricAir ducts provide. A modest overall temperature reduction was realized, with a before average temperature of 25.2°C [77.4°F], and an after average temperature of 24.8°C [76.6°F]. Removal of the flex duct hoses has made movement up on the grid MUCH easier, and eliminated the risk of the hoses being damaged or moved.”

Ceiling Diffusers

FabricAir® Ceiling Diffusers are fully insulated, they prevent energy loss, eliminate any risk of condensation and are therefore suitable for isothermal or cooling conditions, and can be deployed for supply and extract air.

FAQ

Servers and other IT equipment create concentrated heat loads, which can vary considerably between racks and aisles. Air distribution therefore needs to deliver cooling where it is required while reducing local hot spots and unnecessary airflow in areas with lower heat loads.

Pressure loss occurs when air passes through bends, branches, dampers, grilles and other restrictions. A custom-engineered fabric system can distribute air directly along the duct length and may require fewer separate terminal components, helping reduce overall system resistance.

Fabric systems are engineered with the required airflow pattern built into the duct through perforations, nozzles or permeable areas. This can significantly reduce the number of separate diffusers and balancing components required. Final commissioning is still necessary to confirm that the system performs as designed.

Yes. Antistatic textile options use conductive elements to help dissipate electrical charge in environments where electrostatic discharge is a concern. The fabric should be specified together with the project’s grounding, humidity and wider ESD-control requirements.
