In Barcelona’s competitive printing sector, where precision and consistency define success, Gráficas Forte has taken an innovative step to safeguard the quality of its work. The company recently upgraded its production hall with a fabric duct system from FabricAir, installed by local contractor Optimfred.

The investment responds to a challenge familiar across the graphic arts industry: controlling temperature, humidity, and airflow in environments where even minor fluctuations can compromise results.

Printing Without Compromise

For industrial printers, stable conditions are non-negotiable. A slight rise in temperature can cause paper expansion; uneven humidity may distort colors, and uncontrolled air movement can lift dust particles that damage a flawless finish. Many printing shops, including Gráficas Forte, aim to keep their workspaces within a tight climate window of 21–24 °C and carefully monitored humidity.

“The air itself becomes part of the production process,” explained the Owner. Too much airflow can cause ink to dry too quickly, leading to imperfections in the final print. Too little, and the process slows, disrupting deadlines and productivity.

Faced with these constraints, Gráficas Forte needed more than just climate control. It required an air distribution solution capable of delivering precision and uniformity.

Solution

Rather than relying on traditional metal ducts, the company chose FabricAir’s fabric ducting system, a technology designed to deliver draft-free, evenly distributed airflow. The ducts, made from Combi 85 fabric, provide durability in both dry and humid conditions, ensuring resilience in the demanding production environment.
The system’s PerfoFlow™ technology allows air to be dispersed gently and evenly across the entire space, eliminating hotspots and drafts that could otherwise interfere with delicate printing processes.

The installation also made use of the Type 08 All-In-One suspension system, which ensures ducts remain securely aligned and aesthetically integrated while allowing easy access for maintenance – a vital feature for facilities that run continuously.

Results That Speak for Themselves

Since the installation, Gráficas Forte reports a significant improvement in the stability of its production environment. Temperature and airflow now remain consistent, ensuring ink dries uniformly and production continues smoothly, free from environmental disruptions.

The upgrade not only enhances product quality but also reduces waste, cuts the risk of errors, and provides a more comfortable working environment for staff. Seasonal changes no longer pose the same challenges, and the machinery itself benefits from the stable conditions.

For Gráficas Forte, the project demonstrates how fabric-based air distribution is not just an HVAC choice, but a strategic investment in production quality.
