Background
MOLMASA, a leading company in the manufacturing of molds for caps and technical parts, operates an industrial facility located in Barcelona. Due to the presence of machinery that generates heat and airborne particles, the company decided to improve the ventilation and air conditioning system to enhance the work environment through improved indoor air quality in its facilities.

The main challenge in the facility was to achieve uniform air distribution in an expansive space with different work areas while avoiding heat buildup in specific zones and ensuring efficient ventilation. Additionally, the system needed to be easy to maintain and would not interfere with the company’s daily operations.
To address these challenges, MOLMASA trusted FabricAir and the expertise of Optimfred, a company specializing in the installation of textile air distribution ducts, to design and implement an efficient solution that would improve climate control and work comfort.
Solution
FabricAir custom-engineered a fabric duct system to address the specific needs of the facility. The system distributes air evenly throughout the space effectively minimizing hot spots and ensuring efficient air renewal.
One of the main challenges of the project was integrating the system with the existing infrastructure, especially in areas where the ceiling height and the presence of a crane bridge prevented the installation of traditional metal ducts. To overcome this challenge, they selected textile ducts with a modular suspension system which easily adapted to space’s unique needs.
The design included a total of 70 meters of dark gray textile ducts, made of Combi 85 material, ensuring durability in the high heat and airborne particles. Additionally, the SonicFlow airflow model was used, providing homogeneous air distribution without generating uncomfortable drafts, improving thermal comfort in all work areas.
To streamline maintenance and minimize manufacturing downtime, the Type 8 All-In-One suspension was included in the system. The All-in-One shape retention system maintains the open shape of the textile ducts without sagging and allows for quick and easy disassembly for cleaning or inspection.
Results
The installation of the FabricAir dispersion system at MOLMASA’s industrial facility has resulted in an improved work environment, optimizing air quality and thermal distribution.
Thanks to the constant air renewal and the system’s efficiency, the concentration of airborne particles has been significantly reduced, improving hygiene and safety conditions in the production plant. Moreover, the dark gray design of the textile ducts integrates with the industrial aesthetic of the facility, without interfering with the company’s operations.
The implemented solution has proven to be efficient and sustainable, guaranteeing an optimal environment for MOLMASA’s productive activities.
