AN EFFICIENT LIGHTWEIGHT ALTERNATIVE TO CONVENTIONAL METAL DUCTING
A full day of installation time was saved when El Monte City Schools swapped conventional metal ducting to a FabricAir dispersion solution.
Background
When the El Monte City School District was looking for an efficient and lightweight alternative to a conventional metal ducting, SMA Engineering, Diamond Bar, CA., suggested FabricAir.
Due to height restrictions, over head clearance was a major concern.
Solution
Together with SMA Engineering and Ace Air Tech we delivered a custom solution, which consisted of a round duct in Trevira CS Polyester with MeshFlow™ suspended by a Type 8 aluminum H-rail system.
According to the mechanical contractor, Mr. Sam Awad, Ace Air Tech, Paramount, Ca, the installation of the fabric duct system was easy and twice as fast as a conventional metal duct system. Saving him one full day’s installation.
Results
The FabricAir solution proved to be an efficient, lightweight alternative to conventional metal ducting.
Mr. Richard Wasilchin, Director of Facilities for the El Monte City Schools, was impressed with the ease of installation, performance and overall appearance of the fabric duct system.
“If the situation presented itself, I would have no problem submitting a fabric duct system as a value engineering option or as a design build option.” says Mr. Awad , mechanical contractor, Ace Air Tech.
