Large South African automotive component manufacturing facility equipped with fabric-based air distribution solution

A large automotive component manufacturer on the north coast South Africa required an air dispersion solution for their new facility which would be comfortable for the employees, ensuring a supply of filtered fresh air and simultaneous pressurisation of the manufacturing facility. “Undoubtably,it is a great honor that we are being recognized by clients worldwide. FabricAir ducts are very well received by global brands, and we are seeing an increased interest from all market sectors, including the automotive industry. Just like in any other application, our tailored fabric-based solutions can be installed in any part of the manufacturing premises and benefit the company as well as its employees”, says Dave Mitchell, Director at FabricAir South Africa

FabricAir and HFW Consulting created a custom air dispersion solution for automotive component manufacturer. Tailored in permeable, dark grey FabricAir® Combi 20, the solution is composed of 29 systems with a total length of 2 kilometers. The ideal, draft-free airflow patterns were created by combining SonicFlow™ and FabFlow™ suspended by Type 2.

The system will supply 1.301.760 m³/h at low velocity inside the facility without hot or cold spots or dead zones. Despite the huge size of the system, the installation would be 4 to 5 times quicker than installing conventional sheetmetal solutions and reducing additional steel work. The installation will be done by ROVAC Engineering.

Along with providing improved indoor air quality to employees, the automotive component manufacturer will still have maximum flexibility for their production lines into the future along with a  reduction in the running costs of the ventilation and pressurisation system due to the precision of the airflow and the lower pressure losses.
